A bit about the job:

In this role you will set and govern how the front-end of Aviva websites are built by driving forward the strategy, standards and tools used. You will provide expertise in both the core front-end languages of HTML, CSS and JavaScript along with the key subjects of accessibility, performance, security and compatibility. A key responsibility is ownership of Ion, the Aviva Design System, and working with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve the best results in its use. You will be proactive in researching and learning new technologies to enhance both the user and developer experience. This will include leading, building and supporting the wider front-end community to achieve your aims.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • The knowledge and ability to set and deliver a front-end strategy, along with the community, standards, processes, and tooling to achieve it.

  • Expert knowledge in front-end languages and technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript both client and server side, accessibility, performance, security and testing

  • Ability to develop and promote relations with stakeholders, management, between teams and within them

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a desire to always apply the simplest solution through agile delivery

  • Desire to learn, prototype and apply new technologies by identifying issues and creating solutions

  • Starting salary from £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
