Job Description
The Safety Technician works with a dynamic department in Austin, TX within one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States. This role is responsible for providing leadership and training on safety procedures for the Bulk Chemical team. This position provides safety leadership with flawless execution. Strong customer service, Hazmat experience, and ability to effectively work with teams are essential for this role.

Job Duties:
- Leading and executing injury prevention efforts that focus on addressing unsafe behaviors and establishing safety as a core value within all ABM employees.
- Responsible for implementing and evaluating safety efforts that effectively communicates and support company and client policies in a consistent manner with a key focus on incident prevention and loss abatement.
- Develop an On-Site Safety Plan for department.
- Conduct accident investigations, identify root causes and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Facilitate implementation of safe work techniques and effective safety methods and processes; Perform safety drills with team quarterly to increase and improve safety awareness.
- Attend weekly client safety meetings.
- Conduct behavior based safety observations and train other employees and managers in this skill to ensure that safety and operations integrity is demonstrated.
- Lead regularly scheduled safety audits, risk assessments, inspections, and meetings to determine the effectiveness of safety and incident prevention activities, and to ensure compliance with all applicable safety directives.
- Notify local Leadership and EH&S Manager concerning situations that are immediately dangerous to the health of employees and/or which represent serious financial exposure to the Company.
- Demonstrate a visible commitment to safety and operational integrity to every employee.
- Maintaining knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state and local and possess the ability to evaluate, document and report on compliance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations to ensure operational compliance.
- Ensures standard operating procedures (SOPs) are used and updated as required in concert with the client management group.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly training with team(s).
- Ensure that Safety Work Permits (SWP) Program is followed for systems under vendor control, and that no gas or chemical system is opened or worked upon without ensuring a safe system and properly notifying the appropriate parties.
- Manage a lockout/tag out program in support of gas and chemical related systems within the requirements of the client lockout/tag out program.
- Have the right to stop work if safety guidelines are not properly followed.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years experience as a safety technician.
- Hazmat HazWOPER experience.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail, time management, inventory control, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or other email software).
- Associates degree (preferred).
- 1-2 years experience in warehouse environment (preferred).
- 2-3 years of Technical writing experience (preferred).
