We are looking for a motivated individual with proven experience in production operations and software engineering (Site Reliability Engineer). To be successful in this role you will participate and often lead engineering efforts with business partners, develop solutions to address application stability, build self-service and automations tools, maintain complex on-prem and cloud infrastructures, work in a modern DevOps and Agile environment, and focus on stability and reliability of all the Fidelity Insurance application.

The Team

The FILI Production Service team supports a wide landscape of Insurance business applications and is responsible for stability and reliability of these platforms. The team plays a key role in FILI’s initiative to move batch and online apps to the cloud. Our team members are hands-on Site Reliability and Software Engineers embedded in DevOps squads to focus on infrastructure-as-code, automation, and process improvement. We approach operations as a software challenge and strive to eliminate toil and manual efforts.

The Expertise We’re Looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, Physics (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 5 years of combined production support with software engineering experience

  • Hands-on Linux experience (user and permissions management, file systems, performance tuning)

  • Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Python, Perl or PHP

  • Some Experience in databases and using SQL (like Oracle, MySQL, AWS RDS, AWS DynomoDB)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using technology such as Groovy, Jenkins and Urbancode Deploy

  • Experience in monitoring and logging solutions for web and cloud-based applications

  • Excellent at communicating and building relationships across teams and technology partners

  • Confidence to work independently and with minimum supervision

  • Work effectively in unstructured environments, anticipating impact of changes and providing quick resolution for high impact incidents

  • Think outside the box to identify and develop innovative, secure solutions which may not conform to traditional practices
