Job Summary:
We are looking for the right person to oversee and lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations for their assigned shift in the Decatur, IL Corn Plant. The Shift Supervisor will lead all aspects of employees who operate and tend control stations or areas in an automated or semi-automated processing operation. This position may initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions such as performance, scheduling, and/or approving overtime. You will report to the Shift Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
- Focused on personnel safety, quality, and product safety
- Lead plant operations to maintain personnel and process safety
- Manage plant operations to ensure in spec final product quality
- Estimate personnel needs
- Assign work and establish expectations for completion
- Provide training and development for direct staff
- Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 5-8 years’ experience in related position with 3 being in direct supervision of people is preferred
- Strong dedication to safety
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to plan priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for coordination, training, and reporting

The scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not accurately followed
Inside areas:
- Spring / Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility will be up to or exceed 100 degrees
- Fall / Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezing
Some manufacturing processes within the facility are highly reliant on machinery and other processing equipment and, as a result, noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift
Outside areas:
- Spring / Summer: Outside temperature may be up to or exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity; may be exposed to inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain and wind
- Fall / Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below; may be exposed to inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and wind
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to thirty (30) pounds on a frequent basis, up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis
- Lifting or carrying of weights over fifty (50) pounds is rare; employees are encouraged to request assistance with objects that weigh more than fifty (50) pounds!
- Ability to traverse up to two (2) miles daily
- Ability to move about or to a work site by stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently during the course of a work day; may require periods of prolonged sitting or standing
- Ability to operate equipment or diagnose/detect issues of machinery located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding, or other work at heights
- Full range of physical motion is required in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heights
