The Role

As the Wealth Writer on Fidelity’s Thought Leadership team, you will write articles, scripts, and other materials to inform and inspire clients of Fidelity Wealth Services, a registered investment advisor that provides personalized investing and planning advice.
In partnership with the Wealth Editor, the Wealth Writer will work with key business partners to develop thought leadership around financial planning and investing as well as lifestyle topics that are of particular interest to high net worth clients. Among them: tax-smart planning, investing, and estate planning as well as inspirational stories and big trends that will shape their lives and finances in the years to come.
The editor will:
Generate compelling content ideas
Help develop an editorial calendar
Write and edit articles and script webcasts
Recruit and coordinate contributors
Support weekly updates to Fidelity’s Wealth Insights website
Generate content for Wealth Services newsletters
Generate social posts
Ensure appropriate reviews with legal, compliance, and other stakeholders
Work with partners to drive distribution through owned, earned and paid media
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree required
Proven storyteller, editor, writer, and content strategist – 5 or more years in journalism or content strategy required
Financial services experience required – CFP, CFA or wealth planning experience preferred
Able to take complex and sometimes dry topics and make them clear, interesting, human, and compelling
Familiar with the high net worth mindset and able to write in a voice & tone that will resonate with this audience
Experienced in multiple formats – long-form articles, short-form social, infographics, video, podcasts
Knowledgeable about how data, processes, and good editorial judgement work together and how to prioritize
Capable of making progress in environments where there are many guardrails such as legal, compliance, and brand
Familiar with how thought leadership content is used throughout a large ecosystem to engage users and support products and services
Agreeable to deadlines that often change, and often pop up unexpectedly
A team player able to work collaboratively – agile work experience preferred
Comfortable presenting ideas to senior executives and externally
The Team
The role fits within Fidelity’s Content Team which is dedicated to helping our customers become more confident and successful managing their money. The team lives within the marketing department for Fidelity Investment’s Personal Investing Division, which is focused on serving individual investors with a broad range of products and services. We have a passion for putting clients first, and creating content that is simple, human, and engaging.
