The Role

The squad leader leads a squad of software engineers in the development of systems and solutions. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and prioritize the product backlog to delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success.

This position can be located in Boston, Merrimack, Raleigh, Smithfield or Westlake.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science

6+ years of working experience in asset management or a related field

CFA or commitment to study toward completing a CFA

Proven experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions

Software development experience, preferred

Agile experience, preferred

Proven aptitude for investment finance, statistics, probabilistic risk and associated concepts and believe in the key role technology can play in helping asset managers outperform

You take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered

You grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these

You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress

You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building hard-working teams

You continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working

You establish and manage relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach

You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring and coaching

You have or are committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills in order to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers

The Value You Deliver

Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment

Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines

Facilitate healthy direct communication between relevant business partners and the squad and act as the day-to-day custodian of business value delivery

Help business partners to understand what features drive cost in technology delivery and where business processes could be improved to simplify technology support and maximize the effectiveness of their technology spend

Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments

Measuring performance against established objectives and KPI’s that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results

Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
