The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Test and Evaluation Metrology Engineer located in Heath, OH. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Test Equipment Maintenance team in performing quality calibrations, repairs and preventative maintenance on test stations.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and document standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity
  • Lead the development of test procedures
  • Apply lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures
  • Design calibration system/test fixtures
  • Develop data processing tools and algorithms
  • Generate calibration procedures and software
  • Guide others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
  • Oversee debriefing of the test team
  • Lead the analysis, processing and formatting of data to customer requirements
  • Approve test data prior to delivery to customer
  • Formulate expectations for test data based on historical data
  • Perform functions as required to ensure calibration system readiness and data validity
  • Quality control through metrology document reviews and process reviews, support periodic internal and external audits of metrology systems, corrective action responses, root cause and trend analysis.
  • Out of tolerance (OOT) and significantly out of tolerance (SOOT) investigations to determine product impact
  • Analyze and implement requests for calibration interval extensions, delay dating, standard substitutions, metrology methodology questions.
  • Create, conduct, implement and review training for metrology systems.
  • Create, conduct, implement and review training for troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain on the job training (OJT) records for team.
  • Maintain database tools through reviews, upgrades, and user feedback.
  • Write, revise and review calibration procedures to maintain traceability to NIST using proper metrology principles/methodology.
  • Train others
  • Work under minimal direction

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in Metrology and/or measurement science
  • 5+ years of experience working with and/or interpreting engineering data or engineering drawings
  • 5+ years of experience, skill, and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:
