Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Windows servers to join our infrastructure team.
Job Overview:
Serve as the primary technical resource supporting Microsoft Windows server systems including automation, virtualization, networking and security. Work as part of Agile team to analyze, design, develop, test, document, and implement processes and systems supporting our internal customer’s applications. Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with the Microsoft Windows server infrastructure environment. Detect, diagnose, and report related problems. Coordinate work with the production operations and applications teams. Provide mentorship and guidance on infrastructure engineering practices and processes.
Responsibilities:
Manage, optimize, and support Microsoft Windows server infrastructure including automation of processes and services
Oversee and monitor systems, recommending and implementing technology, processes, and practices to protect the Microsoft Windows server and computer assets from threats
Support integration between multiple on-premise data centers and remote auction locations
Work with internal teams along with third party service providers to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues and automate processes; manage relationships and troubleshoot
Support Microsoft Windows servers with On-call 24×7 rotation expectations
Knowledge and support of Microsoft Windows clustering and database servers, Windows and provisioning automation, VMware integration, Blue Cat DNS, Firewall configurations and Enterprise networking
Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other related support environments used by the Microsoft Windows servers for optimal operations
Support of corporate security staff in support of virtualized and physical servers through group policies and virus protection such as CrowdStrike and Qualys agents
Capacity plan, identify trends, and construct proactive plans to address needs
Provide on call support as necessary for production and non-production environments and services
Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in related field and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
7+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and above and SQL Server Clustering system administration and setup skills in Microsoft Windows server environments supporting mid-size to large companies
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
4+ years deploying and managing services in VMware or other virtual technology
Strong scripting knowledge especially in Powershell
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment
Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team
Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff
Preferred Skills
Strong networking skills with proven, in-depth experience managing virtual systems in VMware
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Windows Servers
Knowledge of F5 Networks load balancing, NetApp Storage, and SnapCenter for VMware
Scripting languages that allow for automation of Windows provisioning, decommissioning such as Powershell or other languages
Able to work independently with solid project management skills including the ability to scope projects, analyze alternatives, make management recommendations, and implement solutions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Microsoft Certifications a plus
Strong knowledge and experience in security systems and methods for multi-site distributed environments
Ability to solve problems quickly and completely
