How will you fit into this?

 As our Support Engineer you will provide 2nd Line Technical Support and 24-hour call out. This will be on a rota basis for the infrastructure Supported by IP Network Support – Data Networks (Enterprise and Production networks, AO2 Juniper IT Private Cloud & Security Infrastructure) and Security Infrastructure including Firewalls, VPN concentrators, DNS and Security applications.

 

You will also support the SMIP Management and Access Infrastructure ensuring all Third-Party utility companies are able to access the platform 24/7/365.

 

Some of the more specific responsibilities:

 

  • Perform second line support for all Telefonica(UK) Enterprise network products & Firewalls and the other security platforms that the team support, resolving or escalating to the appropriate body as necessary
  • Advise and participate during the introduction of new network elements and/or features liaising as necessary with other O2 departments and Vendors, providing on-site technical support when required
  • Drive through proactive improvements network and platform design changes to enhance the customer experience
  • Provide management reports on system problems, outages, and fault progression / clearance rate, as required
  • Provide On call Support 24*7 on a rota basis for all IP and Security infrastructure 

 

 

What do we need from you?

 

  • JNCIP-Cloud or equivalent for Cloud based networks
  • Experience actively supporting a large IP network in an enterprise environment including Firewalls, DNS, and other security platforms
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as on self-managed tasks
  • Ability to take the lead in co-ordinating restoration of a service (in a pressurised environment), where expertise may be required from several engineers from different disciplines
  • Ability to convey complex technical information, in a manner that Senior ( non-hands on)  Management can easily interpret
  • Able to obtain the appropriate level of Security clearance required, to have access to elements carrying public information

 

Desirable:

 

  • CCISP or equivalent for Security desirable
  • Supporting IP infrastructure in a Telecommunications environment is desirable

 

The job requires a flexible approach to working hours, which could occasionally include some night-time and weekend work. This could also involve work away from HQ at short notice.
