Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for experienced and motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth, environmental sustainability expertise and strong interpersonal skills. You will partner with some of the world’s largest companies, to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer sustainability problems and accelerate their transformation towards a low carbon economy. As a trusted customer advocate, the solutions architect will help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS across all customer segments. The ability to connect technology with measurable environmental sustainability value is critical to a sustainability solutions architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, sustainability, products, and technical challenges.

Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Sustainability Solutions Architect, you will engage with customers in a pre-sale capacity to help them architect sustainability into their solutions. You will guide customers on measuring, reporting and optimizing for sustainability while running applications on AWS Cloud as well as working with customers to help them use AWS Cloud technologies to build sustainability into their own products and operations. You will be expected to understand key KPIs driven by regulatory requirements or through corporate pledges to sustainability, such as Amazon's own The Climate Pledge and how to measure and report on those KPIs, and guide customers to innovative ideas on how to hit their targets.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Significant experience architecting, building, or operating large-scale applications or infrastructures.

Experience with sustainability as it relates to system architectures on front-end and/or backend systems.

Understanding of the regulatory requirements, guidelines or other industry-standard sustainability efforts and initiatives

Working knowledge of cloud technologies or similar technical background (AWS experience is not required)

Technical degree or equivalent work experience

Business fluent written and verbal English language skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with multi-national customers in support of technology sales or consulting.

In addition to broad technical depth, expertise in Data Science or Machine Learning (bonus if experience is related to social or environmental issues)

Intermediate or advanced experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS is preferred

Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

Business fluent written and verbal French language skills are an advantage
