Job Description

As a Senior Software Project Delivery Manager you will manage the research, development, integration and implementation of strategic, complex and emerging technologies.

You will be responsible for ensuring Product releases are delivered in line with agreed operational metrics including time, cost, quality and risk. You will play a lead role in contributing to medium to long term technology roadmaps, forecasts and business planning.  

This role has line management responsibility for software engineers and will have task management responsibility for other disciplines operating in a global matrix environment including business analysis, architecture, UX and solution assurance.

A clean UK driving licence is desirable, as there may be a requirement to travel to all parts of the UK

Due to the nature of this role successful applicant must be eligible to obtain UK SC level vetting clearance process

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering product releases to agreed operational metrics including time, cost, quality and risk.
  • Responsible and accountable for the organisation of resources to ensure product releases are delivered
  • Responsible and accountable for capacity planning releases
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring business priorities and strategies are focused on and managed accordingly within development
  • Responsible and accountable for liaising with the Product Manager to approve and agree all releases
  • Responsible and accountable for managing changes to releases (scope and delivery) with the Product Managers
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting the performance of the non-developer members of the development team (s) (testers / analysts)
  • Accountable for monitoring and managing the performance of the developer members of the development team(s)
  • Responsible for communicating process changes to the team
  • Escalating issues or risks related to software release delivery within the team to ensure corrective actions can be made
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring time is allocated to progress support and project triage and RFC’s from within the team in a sprint
  • Monitoring testing processes within the scrum team and escalating any issues with testing within the dev department
  • Accountable for ensuring all releases are signed off by Solution Assurance
  • Responsible and accountable for approving the regression testing scope, effort and risks associated with regression testing (liaise and co-ordinate with Offshore team where appropriate)
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring that development Forecasts for the team are reviewed and issued for the business monthly
  • Escalate any risks regarding timesheets not matching estimates

What we’re looking for:

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills in order to co-ordinate the variety of tasks needed to fulfil the job requirements.
  • Experience of driving and managing software development projects in a similar or larger organisation to successful completion.
  • Ability to manage several projects (at a high level) at the same time.
  • Solid understanding of computer systems and a basic knowledge of the specific technology we use.
  • Experience in Project Management Governance and Lifecycle Management processes including planning, change control and risk management.
  • A ‘closer’, owning projects from cradle to grave

Desirable

  • Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent
  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
