The Role
The Health Care Technology Group supports the recordkeeping and administration of health benefits (medical, dental and vision plans) and life insurance plans on behalf of Fidelity’s corporate clients, their employees and retirees. The technology associates on the HCG Platform team interact with business partners as well as systems partners who have responsibility for client-facing channels such as NetBenefits®. The development teams are located across USA and India. This role is based of North Carolina, USA. Team size is 250+ resources across IT and Product. Highly motivated team works completely on Agile Methodology.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be encouraged to contribute to the technical center of excellence and to improve the efficiency and quality of the entire development process within the HCG team.
The Expertise You Have and Skills you Bring
Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or related fields)
3+ years of professional software development experience in a diverse set of distributed application development and middleware technologies such REST/SOAP Web Services, Java 8 capabilities, SQL, Test Driven Development, Spring modules including IOC, Batch, SpringBoot along with other core components like oauth2 and security
Robust critical thinking skills, coupled with a desire for growth, to learn and engage with peers in technical and design discussions
Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience working with cloud computing strategies and architecture (Kubernetes, AWS fargate, Amazon EKS, etc)
You thrive in a team-oriented environment and seeking new challenges
Your communication with peers and leaders is clear and effective
Appreciation for and alignment to standard methodologies regarding object-oriented design, coding standards, RESTful service development and integration, common design patterns, secure application development, and test coverage
Active curiosity about new technology and emerging engineering practices.
Enthusiasm to learn new things, both from the team and independently to share with the team
Full grasp of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning
Knowledge of formal methods (traditional structured or Agile/iterative) to deliver new or enhanced applications, identify and communicate systems development processes and develop during the respective phases of the lifecycle
Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups, both in-person and virtually, in a constructive and collaborative manner
Strong analytical skills and the ability to tackle issues and work through ambiguous situations by making timely decisions based on facts, knowledge, experience and judgment
Can communicate in various settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers and senior management
The desire to be organized, highly responsive and committed to quality
