As a Senior Software Engineer on the Back Office Technology Team, you will be responsible for developing, testing, enhancing, and supporting a suite of world-class pricing and order management solutions that directly impact Gordon Food Service customers and sales teams.  You will work in a highly collaborative agile environment, utilizing paired programming and close interaction with product owners, architects, and SMEs to deliver leading-edge solutions to serve our core customer base.  Your key to success is an internal drive to exceed customer expectations backed by exceptional technical skills, a commitment to quality, and a lean-agile mindset. 

What you will do:

• Designs, develops, validates, and implements software components, applications, or scripts to meet business needs and established engineering standards.

• Analyzes current business systems and new requirements, determines scope of work, and estimates level of effort for development activities.

• Performs integrated testing of systems for accuracy, reliability and optimal performance.

• Drive continuous improvement to the codebases and support the long-term application modernization strategy including a planned migration to GitLab and the Google Cloud Platform.

• May coordinate development efforts, and coordinate and assist with code reviews.  

• Establishes and enforces software engineering standards based on industry best practices.

• Guides and mentors peers, contractors, and less experienced developers in specific areas of expertise.

• Analyzes and resolves production software issues as necessary.

• Facilitates structured code reviews and provides meaningful feedback to improve quality and promote best practices.

Leading candidates will have…

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred.

• At least five years of object-oriented software development experience, with a minimum of two years in an agile/scrum environment.  Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a plus.

• Proficiency in Java, Spring, SQL, Angular, and Linux; expert-level skills in similar technologies may be considered.  Familiarity with Git, Maven, or similar tools preferred.

• Strong back-end Java development skills, with full-stack experience preferred.
