The Azure PMEC team is a rapidly growing team within Microsoft (forecasting ~3x headcount growth in 2022).   Seeded from a team from Metaswitch, a newly acquired division of Microsoft, the Azure PMEC team specialises in cloud-native 5G telecommunications software that brings the benefits of Azure to Enterprise networks – and has helped Microsoft be recognized as the "most innovative private network provider globally” after a survey by Omdia.  

The team is growing in all of Enfield (UK), Bangalore (India) and Redmond (US).

This role can be made available as either full-time or part-time for the preferred candidate. 

Responsibilities

• You will work as a Microsoft Senior Software Engineer on our high visibility Azure based 5G technology with a focus on the overall solution, working to make the product available for public download in the Azure marketplace.
• You will work in a collaborative environment, with local and remote partners, to turn requirements into robust solutions at large scale.
• You will be responsible for taking requirements, creating clarity on specifications, then implementation and rollout.
• While coding will be part of your role, a greater focus will be on the delivery of the solution as a whole, making the offering robust, easy to install, manage and operate.
• You will take a technical leadership role during implementation, including task management and development of more junior engineers.
• You will be part of team discussions on architectural design and solutions continuously looking for improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
• Proven ability to ramp up extremely quickly on a wide range new components/areas/technologies and get the job done
• Strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Passion about delivering a complex solution with high quality, availability and reliability.
• Confident, solution- and result oriented, independent working style with great critical thinking.
• Adept at design, coding (multiple programming languages including some of C#, C++, Rust, Python), testing, and debugging with a track record of developing these skills in more junior engineers.
• Ideally experience with deploying Azure services.
