Boeing enterprise software engineering organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead, mentor, and oversee a team focused on creating and delivering advanced automation & production solutions to the Boeing manufacturing environment. This senior software engineer will join the software engineering team for Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) supporting BR&T Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) and BR&T Materials and Manufacturing Technologies (MMT) statements of work. The position can be based out of either North Charleston, South Carolina, Huntington Beach, California or Berkeley, Missouri.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting full life-cycle development including requirements analysis, software architecture, designs, coding, unit test, integration and system test, and production deployment
Develops and maintains code and integrates autonomous software systems into a fully functional software system
Ensure sound software engineering principles are upheld while supporting BR&T customers with high-quality and timely program execution software deliverables
Development of long term plans for implementing tools and technologies that enable a robust, modern and flexible software architecture
Work closely with partner organizations, such as research labs or subsidiaries to ensure Boeing is oriented to become the leader in Aerospace Autonomy
Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics Performs software research and trade studies
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person†as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person†includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
4+ years of experience designing and developing software using C/C++; C#, Java and Python
3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and Agile software development process
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with Cloud Computing technologies
Experience with Web development technologies (JavaScript,Node.js, React.js, Three.js)
Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) practices
Experience with Docker container technology and Kubernetes Container Service (KCS)
Experience with Test-driven development (TDD)
Experience with Domain-driven design (DDD)
Experience using DevOps tool chain and team collaboration tools including GitLab, JIRA, Jenkins and Artifactory etc.
Previous work experience in a production environment
2+ years of experience with robotics and / or autonomy techniques
2+ years of experience in a leadership role (i.e., manager, project manager, team lead, etc.)
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
