The Linux Systems Group is building the Linux based technologies at Microsoft, and we are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our team in Bangalore IDC. If you are interested in working on Linux or open-source projects at Microsoft, this is the job for you! 

Responsibilities

Our team plays a key leadership role in Azure by driving Linux and open-source technologies, solutions, and strategy. In this role, you will work closely with internal and external customers, coordinate design and coding across multiple projects, and partner with independent teams in disparate geographic locations. You will work closely with upstream open-source projects, representing Microsoft as a strong community partner and contributor. You will be working on research and development in cutting edge accelerations and optimizations to power future public and private clouds. You will define and push the limits of innovative technologies -- working with the latest hardware, the largest servers, and even larger datacenters.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/MS in computer science or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of experience in system-level development of Linux and/or Windows platforms with either C/C++
• Understanding and hands on experience on Linux kernel and its core modules like memory management, process scheduling, networking, storage, file system, etc.
• Knowledge of Virtualization technologies like KVM, VFIO, QEMU etc 
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external teams (open source, standards, and/or partners)
• Strong aptitude in designing, developing, debugging, and validating excellent products
• Passionate about partnering with customers
• Passionate about quality and engineering excellence as one needs to work as an all-rounder engineer focusing on Dev, Test, Support

  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud computing platform(s) is a plus
• Knowledge on Python and one of the modern programming languages like golang/rust will be a boost
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Contributing to open-source projects, like the Linux kernel or CNCF projects, is a plus
• Technical passion, terrific problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently
