Enabling clients to access Bloomberg’s data and perform custom analytics, the Bloomberg Query Language (BQL) and Analytics platform is at the forefront of innovation for our business.

The BQL Enterprise & WLM team is responsible for maintaining the enterprise business requirements for BQL which includes tracking compute and data usage by our enterprise clients as well as creating a workload management system that acts as a gateway to all of BQL traffic. The WLM project is in its early stages of development and relies on technologies such as Kafka, distributed state in memory and heuristic cost modeling to accurately predict load and route traffic across the BQL ecosystem. We are looking for a strong engineer to join our WLM team and move the project forward.

What you'll need to have:

•  3+ years of programming experience in Java (or equivalent OO language)
•  Thorough understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and distributed system
•  Knowledge of network protocols such as http, load balancing, routing etc
•  Experience with architecture designing and API designing

What we'd love to see:

•  Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, BMQ
•  Experience with distributed state technologies such as Redis, ZooKeeper etc
•  Experience with metrics management systems like Grafana
