Job Description

We are Office Android Shared team, focused on building foundational elements. We power world class office apps on Android with 4.5 star rating. As part of a high-performing and passionate team, we leverage and build cutting-edge technology across the Android platform to power delightful productivity experiences to Android developers in Microsoft. Within Android Shared, this team works on Android Engineering. As developers continue making the leap in Android development, we empower them to be more productive and get more done by improving the dev innerloop and outerloop. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of Android Engineering team features 
  • Build automated measurements and dashboards to gain insights into the productivity of the Engineering organization to identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Increase developer productivity by making data-driven improvements to the development tools / workflow / processes. 
  • Mentoring and nurturing the growth of team members. 
  • Lead the team with a growth mindset and model a diverse and inclusive environment. 
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance, and observability. 
  • Build strong relationships with partners within Microsoft to bring innovation to new and existing features. 
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and disciplined software engineering practices to deliver business value, guided by data.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in computer science or equivalent 
  • 8+ years of design and coding in programming language like Java, C#, Kotlin or JavaScript. 
  • Development experience in object-oriented programming languages and patterns. 
  • Ability to learn quickly on an evolving set of technologies.   
  • Working in agile teams with strong customer focus 
  • Good communication and cross group collaboration skills 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Development experience with scripting languages, perl, ruby, python. 
  • Experience in designing and developing tools and solutions used across teams. 
  • Experience with test automation frameworks.
