We’re looking for senior software developers to work on our control room solution, VISION, to help emergency call handlers respond to the public in the most appropriate and efficient manner. This hands-on senior software developer role is a largely internal facing as you’ll work with an Agile software development team to make sure sprint goals are met and quality software is delivered on time and to budget. Collaboration is key and you’ll be working closely with the software development manager to make sure issues and risks are managed in a timely manner, so you’ll need to be a good team player. We’ll support you to develop yourself and we’ll give you access to our tailored learning and development programme too. You’ll work from home in this role and we’re able to offer some flexibility around working hours, so you’ll you can find what works for you and maintain your work life balance.

Job Description:

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the team with solutions to technical problems as well as conducting technical R&D to produce the best solutions

  • Mentoring less experienced members within the team

  • Ensuring efficient solutions are delivered within the design and development phases

  • Contributing to the designs of software changes, including estimations for planning and quotations

  • Assisting with problem solving of software issues both internally and from clients

  • Working closely with the product manager and business analysts to ensure changes are in line with expectations.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience within software development in a senior/leadership capacity

  • Detailed knowledge of .NET development using Visual Basic and/or C#

  • Knowledge of Agile Software Development Methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban

  • Experience of Microsoft SQL Server

  • Leadership of a team and/or product

  • Experience in contributing to and making architectural and technical design decisions.
