Career growth opportunity for an experienced chemical engineer, seeking a technical challenge in a fast-paced environment executing process simulations of a wide range of technologies and projects.
This is a specialist position, and the candidate should demonstrate significant capability and experience of performing the required job duties through prior experience.
Position Summary:
- Executes simulation studies and activities according to a set engineering design criteria utilizing approved engineering procedures and practices.
- Prepares, coordinates, and reviews designs, studies, reports and proposals.
- Uses specialized engineering simulation programs such as Aspen Hysys, Unisim, and Pro II to perform work.
- Takes the initiative to coordinate the detailed design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
- Performs most assignments independently with minimal instruction and technical direction.
Responsibilities:
- The simulation engineer will develop steady-state and dynamic process models and perform simulations for solving process and control problems relating to engineering design, start-up support, and for Operator Training Simulators (OTS).
- The simulation engineer will participate in all aspects of model development involving interfacing with the client and other engineering groups, scoping of work, estimating budget hours. The simulation engineer will also develop reports and participate in the presentation of results internally and in industry conferences and publications.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A recognized bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree in chemical engineering is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution.
- Familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
- Significant experience of using industry-standard simulation software.
- Level 1 - Minimum of 10 years’ experience in process simulation.
- Level 2 – Minimum of 15 years’ experience in process simulation using multiple software.
- Professional Engineer license (PE), or willingness to complete.
Additional Qualifications:
Specific experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments:
- Natural gas processing including liquefaction and regasification.
- Coal, gas or biomass to chemicals such as methanol and ammonia.
- Petrochemicals such as HDPE, LDPE, MEG, PET, PTA, PVC and others.
- Offshore and onshore pipelines.
- Desalination, raw water, demineralized water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Familiarity with current process technologies and licensors associated with the above.
