The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department in the Nonclinical Research and Development (NCRD) department at BMS is seeking a highly skilled ADME scientist for a Senior/Principal Scientist position in Princeton, NJ.
Position Summary
As a Senior/Principal Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting discovery and development projects through leading the DMPK study design, strategy, and execution. You will collaborate closely with multiple departments across a diverse portfolio, including oncology, immunology, and neuroscience, to address drug development issues. With guidance, you will be responsible for preparing regulatory dossiers/responses and oversee drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies on multiple programs.
Depending on the candidate’s background and interest, this role may also involve the use of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to support project needs and regulatory filing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Apply novel techniques and approaches to address DMPK issues
Contribute to internal and outsourced DMPK activities by providing input on study design, data interpretation, and report review
Depending on candidate’s experience, serve as an independent DMPK representative on cross-functional project teams and provide input on project strategies and development plans
Collaborate closely with Clinical Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmacology, and other cross-functional groups to address project related issues
Keep management apprised of project status and current scientific trends using written and oral summaries, as well as presentations.
Skills/Knowledge Required
PhD degree in pharmacokinetics and/or drug metabolism or related field
The Sr Scientist will need to have 2-5 years of experience in the field of DMPK, pharmacology, and/or modeling and simulation
The Principal Scientist will need to have 5+ years of experience in the field of DMPK, pharmacology, and/or modeling and simulation
Strong understanding of ADME, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics concepts
Hands-on experience with in vitro and in vivo techniques used to characterize drug metabolism, transport, pharmacokinetics, and drug-drug interaction potential of drug candidates
Ability to multi-task and work in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated hands-on experience with physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling is a plus
