We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role Senior Sanctions Manager

 In this role, you will:

  • Provide sanctions risk stewardship and advice across HSBC UK Bank PLC (“HSBC UK”) and its Commercial Banking and Wealth and Personal Banking businesses.
  • Provide advice in relation to customers and transactions with a sanctions nexus including determination of controls designed to mitigate sanctions risk.
  • Providing advice in relation to the sanctions control environment for HSBC UK including all screening and non-screening controls and ensuring appropriate identification, escalation, reporting and remediation of issues.
  • Act as delegate for the Head of Sanctions for HSBC UK for sanctions matters
  • Foster a close working relationship with all HSBC UK local Compliance teams and business stakeholders for HSBC UK, including keeping abreast of key business developments and any changes to procedures and practices, and provide training as required.
  • Lead and co-ordinate regulatory reporting for HSBC UK in relation to sanctions matters.  
  • Support the wider advisory team with SME knowledge on sanctions and advisory matters including client due diligence and transaction referrals.
  • Working with Financial Crime Investigations on live sanctions investigations.
  • Collaborating with sanctions legal to ensure risk based approach within law and regulation

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding of UK/EU/UN/US sanctions and sanctions control frameworks is essential
  • Experience in drafting correspondence to and liaising with regulatory bodies preferred.
  • Specific experience with sanctions authorities such as OFSI would be beneficial
  • Experience dealing with regulatory reporting and high risk exposures via clients.
  • Good understanding of business activities for a large global banking group with diverse operations from retail banking, wealth management, commercial banking, global banking, investments, transaction services, asset management, private banking and insurance
  • Proven analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning

The location for the role is: Birmingham / Hybrid (UK Based)
