The Role
The Senior Retirement Analyst is responsible for the administration of defined benefit (DB) retirement plans on behalf of our clients and their participants. This role is responsible for:
analyzing, performing, and reviewing non-automated complex calculations manually, completing client requests, responding to participant inquiries and analyzing/solving data and other complex issues (e.g., determination of historical service values, calculation of historical accrued benefits, etc.)
participating in special projects (e.g., new client implementation, divestitures, mergers, corporate actions, etc.) related to the provision of ongoing administrative services.
providing a full range of administrative and operational support services to a variety of clients and plan participants in a fast-paced environment.
performing the final quality review of work completed by other team members to ensure the finished product is accurate and of the highest quality.
Reading client plan documents, sample calculations, SPDs, valuation file specifications
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5+ years of demonstrated defined benefit experience in a pension and benefit consulting firm or related industry
Diligent with excellent mathematical and analytical skills
Leadership, mentoring, and coaching ability
You have both strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
You’re a leader with self-motivation and determination to succeed
You possess and consistently exhibit strong written and verbal communications skills to external customers (client and participant contacts) in addition to internal business partners
You have a strong ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
You have an ability work to within budgeted timeframes to maintain client profitability without sacrificing quality
Experience reviewing and working with pension plan documents, plan administration manuals, and calculation rules/procedures.
Able to follow existing procedures and when necessary, able to outline and establish new procedures for unique projects and situations
Technically inclined with Microsoft Excel and Word experience. Visual Basic programming and ProAdmin software experience is also advantageous but not vital.
Your experience working directly with, or personally programming, DB calculation or valuation systems, and related spreadsheets
Ability to craft, set up, and review test cases to highlight whether the computer is performing DB calculations accurately in all conceivable situations
Leading the discovery and learning of the mechanics of how the client’s DB Plans operate
Experience actively gathering information from clients and third parties, framing questions, covering all possible scenarios under the DB Plans
Please see below for the salary range for work locations in Colorado only:
$64,000 – $100,000
This position is eligible for incentive compensation or an annual bonus opportunity.
