Many of these customers seek help from AWS Professional Services in their transition to a cloud-based IT operating model. At AWS Professional Services, we are building a professional services team to work on enterprise customer engagements, and to help our partners develop technical expertise and capacity supporting these customers. To help grow and scale this business, we are looking for a Resource Manager, with strong operational, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the professional services business. Helping ensure that the business can optimize its impact on behalf of customers because it is so operationally sound.

About this role:


The Resource Manager works with Practice Managers and Business Operations to execute the resource management mechanism. The individual will manage daily responsibilities and projects independently and influence multiple stakeholders. They will use their in-depth experience to support the Professional Services Sales and Delivery Practice teams. The Manager will continuously improve resource management processes and functions, and ensure that effective management of company and external resources is operationally effective and allows the company to be more competitive. Resource Managers manage multiple assignments and processes concurrently, prioritizing accordingly – within and outside of their team, including actively participating in relevant work streams. They Escalate matters that may have increased business risks at the right time and influence others through their professional experience.

The ideal candidate will possess a mix of Consulting, Strategic Planning, Analytics, and Operations background. They will have demonstrated experience providing strong business analytics, and delivering on projects of all sizes. They must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are able to roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. In this role you will anticipate bottlenecks, make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

They will lead a team of Resource Management professionals who are working with specific practices / individuals. They will focus on building capabilities, increasing impact and helping these professionals to balance the competing priorities of various stakeholders.


Principle Responsibilities & Duties:

· Lead regular reviews with Segment leadership (regional heads of services) to monitor business efficiency, work through conflicts, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive action to deliver improvements
· Define and present analytics associated with resource management including utilization, capacity, and efficiency to regional leadership
· Take accountability for deep analysis resulting in action-based business outcomes
· Resolve staffing escalations, and alert Sr. Practice Management as needed
· Drive system and process improvement initiatives
· Proactively spot forecasted bench time for consultants and work with regional and sales teams to identify new opportunities
· Prepare regular Supply/Demand analysis for Segment leadership
· Work with engagement and practice managers to leverage the best available staffing options from internal regional resources, center of excellence staff, and third party contractors and partners
· Define and coordinate the introduction and implementation of new Operations/Resource Management tools, infrastructure, and processes
· Conduct research to identify alternate staffing solutions and/or alternate processes for improvement
· Support the strategic planning process, the annual, quarterly, and monthly rhythm of business by designing, creating, and providing in-depth business analytics
· Some travel is expected
Key Experience and qualifications:
· 8+ years of experience in Talent Management, Workforce Planning, Resource Management
· Focus on building mechanisms to improve staffing efficiencies
· Comfortable in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines
· Expertise in delivering workforce planning, supply/demand balancing, and tactical resource management services.
· University graduate degree (i.e. MBA) in Business, Computer Science or other relevant field;
· Develop data driven approaches, supported by application of technology, to provide insights into future demand and drive high quality decision making.
· Focuses assignments to ensure effective project allocation of resources, optimize collaboration with stakeholders, cultivate talent, and promote staff retention by implementing actions and communications to meet growth demands of the business.
· Proactively collaborates with multiple stakeholders to design, develop, maintain, and enhance resourcing efficiencies to yield sustained high performance and contribute to new business growth.
· Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Key Experience and qualifications:
· 8+ years in a hi-tech Professional Services Organization in a Resource Management and/or in consulting operational roles (5 years of relevant AWS experience may be considered as an equivalent)
· 5+ years people management experience, preferably supervising remote employees
· University undergraduate degree (BA/BS) or 10+ years of relevant experience
· Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM applications
· Experience with Professional Services Automation tools like FinancialForce, OpenAir, Tableau or Changepoint
· Experience within a consultancy environment preferably Professional Services
· Oversees resource planning process to balance supply/demand across the service line
· Change in demand for people based on sales, revenue and growth targets
· Workforce sizing/mix/composition according to types of work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Key Experience and qualifications:
· 6+ years’ experience managing resource utilization and pipelines
· Experience with SalesForce or other enterprise CRM / PSA application;
· Understanding of technology skillsets is a plus
· University graduate degree (i.e. MBA) in Business, Computer Science or other relevant field;
· Familiarity with resource automation systems and software
· Tableau and/or Excel financial modeling skills and ability to create insightful analysis
