Responsibilities

Undertake cutting-edge research on privacy-preserving machine learning with a focus on natural language models, including the development of theory and experimentation. They will share their findings with product groups and via publications in recognized academic venues. 

Qualifications

Essential

• Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields OR you may not have a PhD but have comparable professional experience. 
• Track record of publishing in NLP, ML, Privacy venues (EMNLP, ACL, NAACL, TACL, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, S&P, CCS), or practical experience customizing and shipping language recognition/generation. 
• Deep awareness of recent large-scale NLP models (GPT-3, etc.). 

Preferred

• Familiarity with techniques for ensuring data privacy and confidentiality such as differential privacy or other statistical notions of privacy including theory, applications and implementations 
• Familiarity with privacy attack research 
• Experience with evaluation of natural language generation systems. 
• Experience / understanding of linguistic concepts such as lexical and compositional semantics.
