What you’ll be doing:
contributing to the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the Release Management policies and processes in line with the Capita Networking Solutions (CNS) customer contracts, ensuring processes are fit for purpose and continually reviewed and improved
managing all aspects of the end to end release management lifecycle process
ensuring teams follow the organisation’s established Release Management policies and procedures
working with internal / external teams and vendors to develop, implement and maintain, automation where feasible, across the Release Management service lifecycle
maintaining accurate release statistics and data, providing management reports at regular intervals, including daily release updates and monthly reporting, producing ad-hoc release reports, compilation and provision of customer lifecycle and management reports on release progress
recording metrics for release deployments to ensure within agreed SLAs and managing the release package design, build, configuration and package acceptance including business sign off
coordinating release documentation and communications, including training and customer, service management and technical release notes
ensuring release management underpins and supports all operational and service delivery processes and all changes to configuration items (CI’s) are controlled under the governance of the change process
working with project and service support teams to ensure any potential CI’s are correctly identified and managed through a quality release management deployment programme
creating Change records, configuration baselines, and package release records specifying the effect on CIs within the Release Management service
ensuring that the CMDB is updated with release updates when a Change is implemented
maintaining data quality, integrity and security of the Release Management database
working with wider shared services teams (NOC, Major Incident, Change, Problem, etc) for the development and enhancement of Release Management tools / procedures
assisting in management, maintenance and automation, where appropriate, of Release Management tools/processes
maintaining proper version controls of release management deliverables
providing wider support with Configuration Management where required
What we’re looking for:
Skills in all aspects of Release Management, (ITIL Intermediate modules such as Service release and deployment management, Service Transition and Change Management are desirable)
Previous Release Management experience and ability to work well in a high-pressure environment, whilst maintaining focus, sense of urgency and decisiveness
Experience in the Telecoms, Service Provider or IT industry, with a good understanding of Local Government, preferably from experience of working with or within this area
Experience of large and complex service management contracts
Excellent understanding of Service Management principles and Service Level metrics
Proven track record of providing excellent customer service to SLA’s and experience of managing key customer relationships within a service management type role
Sound technical knowledge and understanding of IT / Network / Communications services including a broad knowledge of network and infrastructure, hardware and software, operating system and application vendors
Intermediate level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
ITIL qualification (minimum V3) and experience of applying ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library framework) in the workplace
Good documentation skills, specifically with regards to internal and customer processes
Knowledge or experience using BMC Remedy ITSM tool and SolarWinds (NCM, NPM, SAM etc)
Knowledge of asset and configuration management within Enterprise and IP networks and related hardware/software/licensing/warranties
