Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. This role forms part of the Group Financial and Model Risk Regulatory Policy and Engagement team based in London. The jobholder is expected to work closely with GRA, Traded Risk and Treasury Risk Management teams providing regulatory engagement support and analysis on changes impacting HSBC’s activities.  A particular focus will be placed on supporting the regulatory book of work, including regulatory policy interpretations, PRA regulatory engagements and consultation responses covering Traded Risk and IRRBB.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct interaction with regulators and senior management on Traded Risk and IRRBB Policy and Engagement topics;
  • Provide questions and feedback to Group and regional GRA and Traded Risk teams relating to policy, standards and documentation;
  • Being key in managing frequent dialogue and regulatory requests on a number of different subjects;
  • Work together with business experts from the GRA and Traded Risk teams and stakeholders to develop appropriate regulatory opinions, regulatory responses and policy solutions;
  • Supporting the team with regulatory engagement initiatives covering a broad range of Traded Risk and IRRBB topics;
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and responses to the regulator;
  • Drafting policy interpretations and opinions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Good policy experience and /or experience in market risk is essential;
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory landscape particularly relating to Traded Risk, IRRBB or previous experience in a Regulatory Capital policy function is essential;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to a wide and varied audience is essential;
  • Relevant working experience in a bank, rating agency, consultancy or advisory firm would be considered desirable;
  • Experience of dealing with regulators is desirable;
  • A proactive attitude with the desire to effect change is crucial;
  • Some understanding of statistics and concepts of the risk modelling process would be advantageous;
  • Ability to prioritise, lead, manage and successfully deliver within the agreed time scale, in liaison with all relevant stakeholders: model owners, business, finance, senior management and regulator is essential;
  • Flexibility to work with colleagues and key stakeholders in an international team.

The base location for this role is 8 Canada Square, London.
