Job Description
With a core focus on driving revenue for a defined area, you will be responsible for all purchasing activities for TUI Group to build sustainable long-term relationships through effective negotiations and bed management resulting in superior revenue results. In addition, the individual will be the key contact between the various Group and source market departments to ensure proper show-casing of the department as well as the strategic development of all company opportunities with each hotel, in line with the 5 year plan.

ABOUT THE JOB
- Fluent German (spoken & written) required
- Predominantly focussed on the Ski, Lakes & Mountains product, you will manage supplier strategy in line with the 5-year plan for a geographical area.
- You will have responsibility for setting and managing overseas accommodation spend budget including contract value, commitments, deposits and cash-flow for all TUI Source Markets in the area
- You will source and extract key commercial MI in order to assist in informed decision making
- Your influence and input into product selection, range management and new developments will be key, highlighting and developing opportunities for long term agreements, JVs and acquisitions in line with the 5 year plan
- You will meet individual hotel / area targets through accommodation contract negotiations, re-negotiations and ad hoc buying, overseeing buying activities in the area to maximise sales, margin and occupancy targets
- You will be required to manage timely contract performance with agreed deadlines and conduct timely performance reporting and evaluations to the assigned customer base
- The role will require you to meet all bed briefs providing a first class service in negotiating rates, re-negotiations, risk management and supplier development and act as key contact for departments within the businesses and the relevant hotels/ area to ensure end to end consistency from contracting to brochure presentation
- You will manage and motivate a team of purchasing managers across multiple countries and will communicate management decisions to the direct reports
- Take responsibility for training new team members, and taking care of the more important and risk related, accounts
- You will act as a direct link and main voice between the Purchasing Managers and Late Buyer and the Head of Purchasing
- You will deal with escalation points, filtering the number of escalations which are raised to the Head of Purchasing
- You will assist in the strategic decision making for a specific destination together with Head of Purchasers
- You will identify the synergies between the source markets and take actions in line with destination strategy
- The Senior Purchasing Manager may be required to represent the Head of Purchasing at internal or external meetings
- You will work alongside Legal (as required) to negotiate Long Term Agreements (including prepayment agreements) and as necessary negotiate incoming agency agreements
- You will manage and build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
ABOUT YOU
- Fluent German (spoken & written) required
- Experience in buying for group mandatory
- Experience of negotiating / buying within tight deadlines within a Tour Operator Environment
- Experience in buying within the area with profound understanding of local relationships and extended knowledge of local suppliers advantageous
- Goal oriented with strong commercial insight with the ability to make commercial decisions based on complex information and an awareness of their impact
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Capable of motivating and leading a multi-national team across countries to achieve consistent target delivery
- Strong ability in numerical reasoning and analysis
- Proven ability to work with multiple contacts within one customer organisation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English. Any other European language advantageous
