Position Summary:
The Microbial Solutions team at ADM Research is seeking an experienced project manager with a technical background in industrial biotechnology. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing several projects on strain and fermentation process development for products in Human and Animal Nutrition, as well as manage the project ideation portfolio for the Microbial Solutions group in the nutrition space, connecting with internal business and operations stakeholders.  The aim will be to see where biotechnology can complement ADM’s businesses and derive greater value for customers.
Job Responsibilities:
•   Manage 1-4 strain and/or fermentation process development projects in parallel, depending on scale and complexity, through a formal stage-gate process.
•   Complete Technology Development Plans, encompassing a business case, work breakdown structure, Gantt chart, stakeholder register, risk register, and cost model.
•   Communicate with senior stakeholders within the ADM research organization, business units, and operations.  Present information at regular technical updates and at stage-gate meetings.
•   Work with a modeling team to develop techno-economic models for fermentation processes under development.
•   Work with line managers to resource projects within a matrixed organization.  Manage project scope, resources and timelines.
•   Manage ideation and evaluation of project ideas in the Human and Animal Nutrition arenas.  Develop a network of contacts within ADM to bring in perspectives on early-stage product ideas from business unit and operations experts.
•   Contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive work environment.
Job Requirements:
These skills and experiences will be required or useful for the candidate:
•   PhD Degree in molecular biology or microbial physiology (or related field) with at least six years of industry experience in the industrial biotechnology field.
•   PMP certification would be a plus.
•   Experience in formal project management within a stage-gate system.
•   Demonstrated experience working with inter-disciplinary teams, ideally across strain construction and fermentation process development.
•   Excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.
