Role Summary

The Senior Product Development Manager – Collaboration will lead development and deployment efforts for collaboration-related projects and services in specific product categories, including but not limited to Hosted Voice (IP Centrex), Collaboration (Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom) and Hardware as a Service (endpoints, edge equipment, virtualized SBC, etc). Responsible for and serves as an authority on all aspects of product portfolio's lifecycle including: concept, development, launch, customer experience, operating metrics and enhancement priorities.  This role is recognized as the company’s subject matter expert for their assigned category of products.  The Senior Product Development Manager – Collaboration leads cross-functional teams by example demonstrating passion and drive to satisfy customer needs and optimize customer experience through product innovation and/or improvements to internal organization, processes and technology.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Responsible for the completion of product development and launch projects and achievement of business objectives through planning, budgeting, resourcing, and monitoring accuracy of work, etc. 

Serve as champion for product initiatives to obtain necessary cross-functional support and sponsorship.  Directly and indirectly influences others to garner needed resources and support. 

Exhibit leadership with respect to project development, team interactions, business insights and product management.

Ability to work with large cross functional teams in a matrix organization.

Follow and research industry and customer trends in order provide inputs into ideation process.

Analyze customer, business and product performance metrics and interpret underlying drivers to translate into data-based recommendations.

Demonstrate strong technical and market knowledge of cloud telephony and collaboration platforms and the variety of devices used to interact with them.

Translate vision into clear and defined business requirements to drive functional specifications and technical requirements. 

Drive the development of business cases which define the product value proposition to support product and services roadmap investments in collaboration with business partners.

Facilitate communication among executives, peers and relevant department and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain alignment and awareness of current product state and future-state product vision. 

Assist in the creation and optimization of operational practices and procedures to drive efficiencies.

Provide recommendations to management regarding facilities, personnel, and funds required to carry out product programs that are directly related with and directed towards fulfillment of overall organizational objectives.

Serve as the Product Manager role in the SAFe Agile development framework, working in partnership with value delivery teams to define epics, features and user stories that steer development efforts and maximize the value to the customer.

Regularly gather input from customers and lead users in order to find and address product weaknesses or market opportunities.

Presentation skills, to create and deliver product presentations to groups of varying levels of technical understanding.

Provide project management leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams in their support of product initiatives during planning and deployment.

Assist in the management, review and allocation of budgeted and actual spending to for product development and deployment activities in the collaboration segment. Maintain financial and executive reporting. Define metrics to evaluate project team performance.

Develop and implement metrics and communication plans to document the progress of individual projects against key milestones.

Responsible for ensuring the successful system-by-system or nationwide implementation of new services and service enhancements.

Ensure the successful completion of the product development process, on time and within budget.

Assist with the development of 3rd party vendor requirements for new products.

Work with vendor partners to develop new products and product enhancements.

 Qualifications:

Minimum

7 or more years of experience required in related field (e.g. Telecommunications, Network Engineering, SaaS, Cloud Infrastructure, etc.)

5 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree

Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout a large organization.

Demonstrate strong technical and market knowledge/understanding.

In depth technical knowledge of voice services provided by Broadsoft’s Broadworks platform and switching/network architectures (e.g. circuit and packet-switched, Packet Cable) preferred.

Solid knowledge of voice and data network routing protocols, QoS and OSI model.

Knowledge of edge network infrastructure (physical and virtual) like SD-WAN, SASE, SBCs and firewalls.

Knowledge of DOCSIS/Packet Cable 2.0 and metro fiber access network architectures and technologies.

Strong writing skills for product documentation and agile artifacts; Lean Business Cases, Epics, Features, User Stories, Success Criteria, Acceptance Criteria and other product related documentation as required.

User-level competency with productivity platforms like Microsoft M365 Suite, Atlassian Suite (especially Jira) and Aha!.

Experience with product development life-cycle and adherence to product development methodologies.

Excellent analytical skills.

Proven technical aptitude.

Willingness to travel approx. 20%.

 Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline strongly desired, MBA preferred.

SAFe Agile 5 Practitioner’s Certification

Experience working in a scaled telecommunications or relevant high-tech environment.
