Key Accountabilities

The jobholder will be responsible for:

1. Designing and delivering quarterly Board programmes and meetings, ensuring these are used as a platform for regional engagement and a route to delivery for DITs strategic objectives.

2. Oversight and coordination of policy publications published by the Board; working across Departments and with Board Advisers to define the agenda and deliver ambitious recommendations.

3. Responsibility for ongoing engagement plan, bringing external expertise of Advisers into the wider work of the department.

4. Ministerial handling and briefing.

5. Managing governance of the Board including facilitating appointments and financial oversight.

6. Line management of a HEO.

7. Corporate contribution to the wider Advocacy Directorate.

Responsibilities

Essential Criteria

• Stakeholder management and communication skills

• Evidence of managing complex, and cross-cutting delivery projects

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working with Ministers and senior external stakeholders

• Policy design and delivery experience

• Evidence of strategic thinking

• Communications and events management experience

Person Specification

This role would be suited to a high performing, enterprising and organised individual, looking to work on a key Secretary of State priority.

This role would be suited to someone comfortable working in ambiguity, adapting to a fast-moving agenda and delivering at pace.

Hybrid Worker

The role will be based in either London or Darlington. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences.
