About the Team

We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Planning Manager that will report into the Head of Marketing Planning. As part of the Planning, Insight and Effectiveness team that sits in Brand & Marketing, we support our fixed and mobile products and propositions across the newly formed Virgin Media O2, Virgin Media, O2 and Virgin Mobile brands for both Consumer and SMB.

About the role

As the Senior Marketing Planning Managers (mobile), you’ll be responsible for leading brand & marketing planning across brand and trading campaigns, media, and messaging for O2 and Virgin Mobile, ensuring integration into the broader brand and marketing plans within the newly formed Virgin Media O2 organisation. 

 

You’ll translate broader commercial and customer goals and strategies/plans into compelling and coherent brand & marketing plans, providing clear direction to the wider Brand & Marketing team and agencies.

 

You will collaborate with and influence a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders to define the take-to-market approach for new propositions, while engineering rolling comms programmes that fit the evolving needs of the business, market, and customer.

 

Passionate about gathering and interpreting data and insights to help shape overall plans and campaigns, the role requires leadership skills both within brand and marketing and upstream with business stakeholders, helping to inform the best use of the multi-million marketing budget to meet core objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on integrated planning across brand and trading for our mobile brands, O2 and Virgin Mobile, working closely with the Head of Planning and the Senior Mktg Planning Manager (fixed) to ensure we have a joined up and coherent narrative and plan across all our VMO2 brands and products.
  • Manage the multi-million £ mobile marketing budget, working with our Performance & Econometrics team to ensure we have the right budget envelope, the optimal phasing and split of spend between brand and trading to balance both short- and long-term impact
  • Work closely with strategy, commercial, products and other teams to ensure B&M is inputting into strategy/plans and that B&M plans are aligned with key priorities 
  • Work closely with our vendor management teams and vendors to identify opportunities and manage vendor funding
  • Work closely with agency planners as required as part of the ‘planning hub’ spanning ATL, BTL and media
  • Evaluate and co-ordinate briefs across B&M, ensuring they inspire creative teams and agencies to deliver effective campaigns
  • Ensure the latest best practice, customer insight and trends are reflected in our plans to drive continuous improvement
  • With passion for and experience in communications planning, you’ll develop effective integrated communications plans and messaging frameworks, and manage insight-led integrated marketing strategies that reach and engage our target audiences

 

What We Need from You:

Essential Skills:

  • Min 5 years’ experience in brand & marketing planning, with proven success in planning and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns across both brand and trading
  • Experienced at using comms frameworks to distil clear narratives and messages across all channels and customer touch points
  • Proven experience of managing and optimising multi-million-pound budgets
  • Strong inter-personal and consultative skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively to influence and inspire people with their thinking
  • You have an insatiable curiosity and can observe and identify patterns, trends, and insights, and use these to drive strategic thinking
  • Strong presentation skills and advanced use of PowerPoint
