Reports to Senior Payroll Operations Manager

The core accountability of the Senior Payroll Specialist is to accurately process payroll for multiple, complex multi-state corporate companies on a PeopleSoft and/or ADP payroll systems and will transition to Workday. This position includes executive payroll processing.  The Senior Payroll Specialist will be the liaison for the payroll provider day-to-day administration, and payroll enhancements.

 Responsibilities:

 Serves as payroll subject matter expert in working with business partners on projects and process improvement opportunities.

Provides relevant training and knowledge sharing opportunities with the Payroll Specialist(s).

Identifies and documents the need for new payroll procedures or necessary communications and reports them to management.

Serves as back-up to payroll analyst

Supports complex payroll related processes and issues.

Follows up with timekeepers and managers to ensure procedures are followed timely and accurately.

Responsible for completing the timely entry of all employee level tax, general deductions, special earnings, direct deposit, and all other payroll related data in PeopleSoft, ADP Work Force Now, and eventually, Workday payrolls.

Gathers and enters time entry information regarding worked and non-worked hours (PTO, vacation, sick etc.) from various sources (time clocks, timesheets, emails, etc.) for accurate payment to employees.

Reviews, monitors, and validates transactions initiated by other payroll specialist(s) as well as other areas (benefits, compensation, etc.) to ensure accurate processing for employee.

Assists payroll analysts with proactively identifying potential payroll issues and correcting any errors prior to confirming the payroll transactions.

Acts as a payroll expert concerning wage and hour laws as well as other payroll related topics to service customers with their payroll related questions.

Maintains customer contacts for corporate payroll for questions, payroll check and reporting distribution.

Generates any off cycle payment transactions, as required.

Sends communication and manage process for updating employees for special annual payments/updates (club dues, personal auto usage of company vehicle, etc.).

Uploads and validates annual payments and processes using the ADP system (year end, W2, W2C processing, Group Term Life and Long Term Disability taxable income, etc.).

Develops and maintains document(s) and procedures followed within the Payroll Operations area.

Interacts with employees and HR professionals regarding questions about payroll. 

Produces reports as needed and/or directed for internal customers. 

Supports the Payroll Specialist(s) where needed.

Monitors and responds to the CPAY Corporate email inbox.

Will assist in the development of policies and procedures for payroll process and timekeeping.

Researches and resolves pay discrepancies.

Updates leave balances as requested by HR division leaders.

Performs other duties as assigned depending on department and business needs.

Qualifications:

Degrees/Designations:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting a large HR/payroll environment               

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

 

System Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum of 4 years’ experience with PeopleSoft Human Resources, PeopleSoft Payroll, Workday and/or ADP Work Force Now

Advanced experience using one or more of the following:  Service Now, Workday Time Tracking and Workday Payroll

Experience using Microsoft Office products

Moderate level of PeopleSoft Query development is required. 

Excellent customer service, verbal, written and communication skills.

Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands.
