Senior NVH Development Engineer

Our Position Summary

This position will be responsible for leading and supporting noise and vibration product development activities for driveline components such as transfer cases, gearboxes and couplings. This NVH role includes project planning and communicating with program teams, testing setup and data acquisition in the lab and in vehicles, along with data processing, analysis and report writing. This position also includes leading NVH group infrastructure and continuous improvement activities in methodology and product knowledge.

Key Accountabilities                                                                        

  • Lead new and current product development and validation programs through NVH testing, analysis and reporting.
  • Interact with other engineering groups to enhance product performance, weight and cost.
  • Perform test setup and teardown for lab and vehicle tests.
  • Perform specialized NVH development and benchmarking activities in areas such as acoustics and structural dynamics.
  • Support Plant EOL NVH activities.
  • Conduct studies to improve product design for NVH.
  • Support development and implementation of NVH group functional and technical capabilities; carry and manage NVH group internal initiatives.
  • Maintain NVH equipment (hardware and software); support tooling drawings.
  • Work with colleagues to correlate test results to CAE models on components and assemblies.

   Your Profile

  • Bachelors degree in. Mechanical Engineering
  • Masters in NVH preferred or relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years minimum NVH work experience in automotive powertrain, driveline (transfer cases, transmissions, PTU’s, axles) or relevant rotating machinery applications
  • Experience with Acoustics and/or Structural Dynamics
  • Experience with common NVH software, data acquisition and analysis tools
  • Experience with Time, Frequency and Order Domain testing and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to impact product design through NVH problem resolution in vehicle or powertrain/driveline subsystems
  • Software experience preferred: HEAD acoustics Artemis Suite software and hardware, Siemens Simcenter Testlab software and hardware, HBK Discom Analysis Systems EOL software and hardware, Horiba STARS Dyno controls software, Matlab
