Senior Media Planning Manager
This role will be responsible for the planning and co-ordination of all ASOS media investment. This role sits within a cross-functional media investment team called Media Lab, which encompasses multiple digital marketing channels as well as adding the complementary product, engineering and insights resources to bolster our marketing capability. This person will report to the Head of Media Investment and will lead the strategic insight gathering, planning and co-ordination across the media investment function to ensure our resources and budgets are being deployed as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The team has a high profile, driving over a third of the company’s revenues, and needs talent that can uphold this profile in a credible manner. Our key stakeholder groups include the Exec Board of Directors, Finance, Trade Managers and Retail.
The position is currently a standalone, strategic role (although likely will expand to include line management of additional team members as business requirements increase) and is designed to collaborate closely with the teams across Media Lab as well as and other business stakeholders to play a pivotal role in developing best practices for the evolution of mid and upper full funnel marketing across existing and new marketing platforms, to deliver ASOS’ goal of operating a profitable, full-funnel marketing investment model.
Key Responsibilities
Return on Investment
- Work alongside internal Marketing teams to deliver media plans that will drive exceptional performance against strategic business and commercial objectives across multiple markets, with the main focus to drive maximally efficient full-funnel customer acquisition, retention and revenue growth for ASOS.
Full Funnel Expansion
- Work with channel owners to plan campaigns in line with best practices to test and scale mid and upper funnel activities across a multitude of channels (new & existing) to ensure effective communication of brand & proposition messaging
- Collate and evaluate relevant data, ranging from previous experiment insights to population and geographic data, to support decision making and prioritisation
- Plan complex full funnel multi-channel campaigns to support business priorities across different business units and/or brands
Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Delivering media plans backed by best in class measurement and analysis to provide confidence, transparency and executive investment governance.
- Extensive cross-functional collaboration with other teams (internal & external) including Finance, Trade, Commercial, Insight, Martech, Creative, Brand and Customer Growth, as well as Platform partners such as Google and Facebook
Media Experimentation
- Collaborative planning of robust media experiments aimed at aimed at driving incremental growth and scaling media investment, especially to solidify mid and upper funnel activities within our marketing mix
Agency/Tech Management
- Where appropriate, work closely with procurement and Martech to enlist the required external resources/tech to aid with planning, and to visualise and manage complex timelines and competing business priorities
We’d love to meet someone who
- Is experienced (>5 years) in media planning and budget modelling, ideally within the retail sector, agency or client-side
- Has proven analytical ability and data-driven decision-making capability and can bring a metrics, data and performance driven approach to the role
- Has worked in a global role, and can bring their experience and knowledge of market-specific trends and considerations.
- Advanced knowledge of growth and acquisition metrics including digital media planning, buying and optimization, paid acquisition tactics and best practices
- Flexibility in adapting to fast-changing priorities and a fast-paced work environment
- A true collaborator with proven problem-solving skills and an ability to work across diversity in functions and levels
- A strong understanding of digital marketing channels and, ideally, several years hands on experience of managing digital marketing campaigns
- Commercially focused, with strong budget, planning experience and ability to demonstrate precise marketing ROI.
- Scientific approach to measurement and experimentation
- Excellent communication, presentation, and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
