Job Description

An exciting and progressive career opportunity has arisen for an M&E Engineer/Surveyor who will be responsible for service delivery to a wide range of clients in providing solutions in the private, education, health, local authorities, and other clients.

We are looking for a mechanically biased engineer with experience in the design and specification of all aspects of mechanical building services. Work will typically include assessment of M&E works carried out by others, assessing compliance with current regulatory standards/CIBSE guides, undertaking condition & lifecycle assessments of existing plant, recommendations for repairs & replacements, the design & specification of low to medium value projects (up to circa. £500,000 contract value) although these may occasionally be up to £1M+ in contract value.

You will be contractually based at our Blackburn town centre office although largely home working until COVID restrictions ease. You may be asked to work from our other regional offices as required from time to time.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsibility for early stage design and feasibility work

  • Assist with developing detailed briefs in conjunction with the client & colleagues

  • Carry out site surveys (including compliance assessments)

  • Carry out stock condition assessments (recording information both digitally & manually)

  • Prepare reports, including lifecycle & cost data

  • Prepare detailed specifications (including using NBS Specification software if appropriate)

  • Carry out detailed design work and assist colleagues with preparing tender information

  • Respond to Contractor’s RFI’s and carry out compliance inspections of work undertaken

  • Liaise with Clients, Contractors & other consultants (internal and external)

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Building Services, HND/HNC or equivalent

  • Previous post qualification experience within a commercial Building Services environment

  • Ability to establish a good working relationship with clients and colleagues

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

  • Excellent AutoCAD and/or REVIT skills

  • Use of NBS Specification Manager, Excel, Word

  • Good written & verbal communication skills

  • Full UK Driving License & use of own vehicle

  • Ability to demonstrate flexible approach to work & willingness to travel as may be required.
