Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer applies broad and diversified knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices to the project. Works directly with the client to resolve technical questions and problems and maintains contacts with client representatives such as suppliers, appropriate field personnel, Project Engineers, and other engineering discipline personnel to ensure the coordination of the work within the project is within compliance of both Bechtel and client policies and requirements.   

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of mechanical engineering on project
  • Must have the ability to work independently, use engineering judgment, and devise new approaches to solving problems. 
  • Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements. 
  • Perform work using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and appropriate 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools. 
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders. 
  • Review and disposition of field change notices and non-conformance reports. 
  • Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. 

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 9+ years of related work experience
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 13+ years of related work experience 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of engineering procedures, covering discipline deliverables, production, and control responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
  • Thorough knowledge of business practices and project forecasting
  • Experience in resolving complex technical problems and the ability to articulate explanations
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registration in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Previous Bechtel experience.
  • Previous experience/knowledge on semiconductor manufacturing design process.
