Role Overview:

This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to prepare designs for Mechanical systems in support of various projects as part of the NS&E Engineering Services team.  The projects that will be assigned involve government work throughout various sectors including DOE and DOD.  This position is anticipated to require business travel between 25 and 50% of the time, as well as short-term assignment opportunities of up to one year in duration.  This position will execute assignments concerned with specialized or unique engineering requirements and has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments.  This involves exploration of a subject area, the definition of scope, and may involve the development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. You will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design and can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.

 

Job Responsibilities:

This role will support design development of Mechanical systems and equipment for various projects in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements, using independent judgment with limited oversight.

Develop design drawings.

Perform formal calculations.

Size equipment and systems.

Develop equipment and material specifications and procurement documentation.

Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.

Design Building Information Modeling (BIM) and coordination with other disciplines.

Review vendor submittals and integrate information into a design solution.

Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.

 

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 13 years of relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.

US citizenship is required.

Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.

Registered Professional Engineer in the USA (Mechanical or related Engineering).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.

Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably DOE and DOD.

Experience executing engineering and design with Revit.

Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
