We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as Senior Manager Tax Compliance working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to assist with UK and International tax compliance requirements arising for the UK group companies, providing corporation tax advice and support across the UK Group to ensure any issues that will affect the UK financial accounts and tax returns are identified, analysed and treated correctly. Ad hoc support will also be required on other UK and group-wide projects. 

In this role, you will:

  • Assist with transformation of processes for the preparation of the corporation tax returns as we transition to KPMG as new outsourced partner. 
  • Supervise Deloitte/KPMG’s preparation and lodgement of tax returns by HMRC deadlines, as well as tax disclosures for input into financial accounts.
  • Interact with the external auditor, PwC, as required in relation to the audit of the financial accounts.
  • Attend HMRC meetings to discuss issues in real time and deal with HMRC correspondence including enquiries raised, notices delivered group lists, returns (JARs) and payment allocations.
  • Monitoring any UK Uncertain Tax Positions and following agreement of amendments with HMRC, updating records shared with HMRC and processing prior year adjustments and settlements.
  • Specific areas of focus would include oversight of the annual CFC return, capital allowance analysis, R&D claims and detailed share based payment calculations
  • Sundry International queries on WHT rates and residence certificates 
  • Assist with the preparation of tax comments for inclusion in Internal Strategy applications for transactions/restructuring and act as Tax signatory for such applications at Europe and Group level
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a qualified accountant and either Chartered Tax Adviser or considerable experience of corporate tax 
  • IFRS tax accounting knowledge, in particular application of IAS 12 Income Taxes
  • Have the ability to perform legislative analysis, identify potential risk areas and accurately document approach taken  
  • Good communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly to people who are not tax experts
  • Have the ability to work with a high degree of independence within a team and to manage competing deliverables within tight timelines
