Job profile

• Ensure all Startup Ecosystem Development programs are managed effectively and efficiently. Conceptualize, plan, implement, and monitor outputs/outcomes effectively to achieve set objectives.
• Represent the organization as a thought leader in National and International Forums, and provide strategic direction to those who wish to serve in the Startup Ecosystem Development space.
• Identify and analyze global trends, provide guidance in developing comprehensive national level Startup Ecosystem Development strategies, and consult the Private Sector stakeholders on the necessity of innovation.
• Act as an ambassador representing the needs of startups to Government regulators,decision-makers, banks, and other financial institutions.
• Form impactful relationships with stakeholders including government bodies, industry/professional associations, private sector, education & research institutes, and key local and international stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Public/Private Research and Development, Technology Transformation, and Technology Diffusion entities to exchange technologies and processes with the startup ecosystem to create new startups.
• Create partnership opportunities to engage with relevant partners to generate maximum value for the startup community while planning and leading activities to promote
• Sri Lanka as a host destination for startup and technology events.
• Approach and setup startup investments through government to government linkages, Public and Private Partnerships, and private investor networks.
• Undertake periodic impact assessment national-level surveys using internal/external resources while being an expert in providing nationwide advocacy in the startup ecosystem development interventions.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and mitigate risks to eliminate potential roadblocks in design, development, and implementation by understanding policy and legal terms.
• Ensure proper internal and external communication and visibility is achieved for programs undertaken by the unit.
• Develop the consolidated procurement plan for all the programs implemented by the unit.
• Ensure sound financial management and compliance of all aspects of the projects implemented.
• Provide sound mentoring to the team members for smoother implementation while planning/organizing capacity strengthening initiatives for the unit staff.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology from a recognized university or equivalent qualifications related to the field from a recognized university/institution.
• A Postgraduate Qualification will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 08 years of relevant professional experience of which at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Prior experience in working closely with Government organizations, regional and national industry/professional associations, R&D entities, private sector companies, educational institutes (including universities, vocational institutes, and schools), non-government organizations, and global partners/stakeholders.
• Should posses strong communications and interpersonal skills.
• Be detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent with solid time management and organizational skills.
• Sound judgment and team problem-solving skills.
• Be a proactive individual with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Be stakeholder-focused, understand and anticipate customer needs.
