We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic Senior software Engineering Manager for managing the Emerging Ventures engineering team. You will be responsible for managing a full stack team of developers designing and developing products/solutions towards Emerging Ventures line of business within Mobility Engineering organization. You will be expected to partner with other technology leaders and product management team and responsible for the deliverables to our end customers. You must have excellent technical skills and aptitude to oversee and coach the team on agile practices. In this role, you will be managing a team of highly technical engineers and will report to the Head of Engineering.
What you will do
Supervise and guide inspectors, technicians, and other staff.
Coach, mentor and lead a team of lean/agile app developers.
Establish team metrics for measurement of quality and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvements
Work in an agile development environment with a team of highly motivated employees
Work to establish engineering strategies with a focus on quality
Hire, Coach and mentor team members on career growth
Be highly results driven and have a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Collaborate with cross functional teams such as architecture, backend integration, visual design, UX teams, QA, etc.
Responsible for all phases of SDLC in designing and developing software solutions.
Responsible for end-to-end architecture/design and development and ensuring quality standards.
Provide hands-on leadership.
Creates and maintains consistent reporting to keep stakeholders informed of progress
Regularly maintains a clear roadmap that helps the organization understand what will be delivered and when
Encourages good practices on the engineering team like regular code reviews and test-driven development
Ensures designs have clear documentation and well-understood architecture
Collaborates across the organization to plan for and lead change
Mentors and provides feedback to direct reports via regular one-on-ones
Ensures that Agile sprints are properly planned and reduces confusion
Maintains a practice of continuous improvement
Comfortable getting hands dirty in the code and conducting code reviews
Clear and consistent communicator
Seeks ways to measure and improve metrics like lead time and escaped bugs
Listens to others, exudes positivity, humility, and empathy.
Leads by example and explains the why not just the how.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in product development space with hands-on experience in architecting, design and developing software products in a Lean/Agile environment with deep understanding of design paradigms.
Has 3+ years managing engineering teams
Hiring/Mentoring engineering staff
Hands on experience in building software products.
Has architected, developed, and maintained JVM-based systems running on AWS
Experience managing agile technical teams while working in a service-oriented continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) environment
Has deep understanding of how to engineer distributed microservices which use relational databases, message queues, and various cloud technologies
Knows how to organize and guide teams of engineers to deliver business value consistently, with high quality, on-time
Collaborates in a cross functional manner with team members across Product, QA, Operations and Business stake holders.
Has a track record of growing individuals within the team to new roles with increased responsibilities
BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent domain
Nice to Have
Experience in leading Agile Transformation
5+ years of people management experience in managing a high performing development team.
Experience in IOT/Telematics product development space.
