We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as Senior Manager: MDM Strategy & Policy working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The Wholesale Chief Data and Analytics Office will deliver a Group Customer Data Utility on behalf of Group Digital Business Services.

Reporting to the MDM Portfolio Governance Lead, the Strategy and Policy lead role is responsible for ensuring that the MDM Strategy is understood across the MDM products and that the interdependencies and handoffs between the products are understood and documented and subject to the appropriate governance.  There is also a requirement for this role to oversee a small team who are responsible for the creation and maintenance of high level procedure documentation, including Policy and Control frameworks across MDM.  Low level Desktop Instruction Manuals (DIMs) must be owned and maintained by the Product teams but the oversight and governance (including change control) of these sits within the Portfolio Governance team.

In this role, you will:

  • Understand the Data Management responsibilities of MDM and ensure that appropriate governance and controls are in place across data governance, privacy and quality disciplines. 
  • Understand the data, technical and business architecture strategies and ensure that MDM are compliant where possible and any deviation is documented and subject to the appropriate governance.
  • Take ownership and coordination of TOM changes across MDM working with the appropriate Product Managers and ensuring appropriate process and controls are adopted and established within MDM and that handoffs and dependencies on other teams are understood and documented.
  • Understand issues raised by stakeholders in terms of the service deliveries of MDM and working with Product Managers to find solutions and implement required changes.
  • Analysis of business requirements and stakeholder demand to understand the impact on MDM service delivery and Operational processes and driving solutions to ensure ongoing improvement and service excellence.
  • Provide support to the Head of MDM and product Managers to coordinate and manage large scale deliveries which impact multiple products to ensure consistency and visibility of approach and solution design.
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience in general data management and master data management
  • Proven experience in delivery using agile delivery methodologies
  • Significant experience working in a commercial bank, global banking & markets or financial services industry
  • Experience of working in a data management environment with awareness of industry data standards (eg ISO, NACE) and data policies
  • Structured analytical problem-solving skills, able to breakdown complex problems and find solutions and options
  • Knowledge of business analysis, requirements engineering, product backlog management, structured analysis and process mapping
  • Strong research, analysis and policy or report writing skills are essential
  • You must be a self-starter
  • Excellent written communication skills – ability to clearly document the current state and the recommendations
  • Have strong people skills, operating effectively in teams
  • Have knowledge of commercial or wholesale banking
  • Have the ability to build and maintain relations with business units and deliver services through management of quality measurement tools
