The Role

The Customer Knowledge and Strategic Insights (CKSI) organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to be a Senior Manager of Marketing Research. This person will be passionate about identifying the messaging strategies and advertising executions that speak directly to prospective and current clients. This person will use both qualitative and quantitative primary research techniques to unearth insights, evaluate communications concepts, and convey research results to business partners and key stakeholders. The purpose of this role is to ensure that Fidelity’s advertising and content messaging outperforms that of all key competitors among target audiences and drives business performance within our Personal and Workplace Investing businesses. This role will report to the VP of Marketing Research.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience in conducting a broad range of market research studies and collaborating with stakeholders

Comfortable brainstorming with clients to formulate hypotheses, clarify objectives, and ensure desired outputs will be delivered

Experience in managing the initiation, design, and implementation of primary research studies, including crafting questionnaires, analyzing data, and delivering compelling reports with actionable recommendations

Experience working within cross-functional teams and forging partnerships

Advertising / messaging research background; agency experience a plus

Demonstrated experience running tracking programs such as brand health monitoring is a plus

Experience with Agile principles and execution will be a plus

Experience working at Customer Obsessed organizations and/or digital-first companies is a plus

Financial Services Industry experience preferred

BA/BS required

Strong research & quantitative analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize findings and develop practical, measurable recommendations

Capable of communicating with and influencing leadership through relationship-building and high-quality presentations

Intellectual curiosity and ability to bring in new insights and thinking into the business

Learning mindset – actively seek new ways to help the team stay ahead of business objectives, bring new vendors / methodologies to the table, stay on top of best practices

Proven expertise with key advertising / marketing research techniques across TV, OLV, Display and Social

Ability to structure and deliver presentations clearly, crisply, and compellingly

Experience defining scope, developing, and executing project plans, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously

Attention to detail is a must

Experience with statistical techniques such as regression analysis, factor analysis, and familiarity with SPSS is a plus

The Value You Deliver

Design and conduct primary positioning research in support of the development of creative briefs for consumer-facing advertising. Insights from these studies form the strategic basis for our creative briefs. The findings from this research are presented to Sr. Marketing leadership including the CMO.

Evaluate advertising campaign approaches through primary research and present insights to marketing and business leadership for further refinement of ads. All TV and OLV campaigns are tested before going to full production. These results are shared throughout marketing leadership and are presented to the President of Personal Investing prior to the approval to move forward.

Evaluate TV, Digital and Social advertising, both ours and competitors, to ensure top performance in-market. Primary research is conducted through syndicated research studies and is presented to Sr. Leadership at each Monthly Business Review and Quarterly Business Review.

Deliver integrated storytelling across positioning, advertising, social listening and brand health studies to surface strategic messaging opportunities
