The Senior Finance Manager will report to the Director, Finance and be responsible for the leadership and direction of the financial activities of the assigned Manheim Auctions.  The Senior Finance Manager is the key business partner and trusted advisor to the Auction Leadership in all areas of finance and is the liaison between the locations and the center finance team, as well as the centralized Accounting team. 

 

The Senior Finance Manager leads a team of Finance Analysts located at the auctions, and will be responsible for overall financial management of the assigned locations to include financial analysis, performance management, budgeting and forecasting, as well as strategic initiatives and business case development.  The role will engage proactively with the business leaders to anticipate business issues, provide insights and recommendations and influence and drive strong decision making through sound financial management.

 

A focus on continuous improvement including the enhancement of Finance processes and procedures is essential to success in this position. This includes partnering across the broader finance organization and with key business stakeholders to optimize upstream and downstream processes and integrate improvements into operating plans and goals.  Ongoing individual development within the finance organization is another critical success factor including the ability to transform and adapt the organization to the Company’s shifting business model and strategies.  

Effectively lead the assigned auction Finance team and provide regular communication and feedback.   Focus on developing the team and ensuring high levels of employee engagement.

Prepare and review consolidated monthly and annual financial results to present to Auction Leadership, Regional leadership, and the center finance team. 

Build strong relationships with other areas of the business in order to provide business leadership and collaboration including Sales, Marketing, Credit & Collections, Operations, and Other Administrative functions.

Provide the thought leadership and financial analysis to identify and influence the execution of operational efficiencies, operating model opportunities and cost structure improvements. 

Analyze trends and key variances to plans: partner with Senior Management, Regional leadership, and center finance team to improve operating results.

Assist in the preparation, review, and presentation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long term financial plans. 

Create driver based models to support Auctions.

Build and/or oversee the development of business cases for new investment ideas and establish an ongoing culture of evaluation.

 Leadership & Development

Build and enhance a strong team that provides proactive support and results-driven execution of responsibilities to meet the current and future needs of the business.

Remain current on best practices and trends relevant to finance and related technologies.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at operating locations, and key corporate stakeholders, ensuring that they understand and value the services provided by the Finance team and respond to feedback regarding opportunities for improvement.

Partner with key stakeholders across Cox Automotive to ensure appropriate service levels are being provided.

Manage and coach employees to increase engagement and strengthen professional development.  Continually strive to develop talent within the Finance organization to promote individual development and career growth.

Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a financial environment required.

MBA and/or CPA preferred.

7+ years of business experience, with a strong focus in financial planning (budget/ forecast), financial analysis and business case modeling. 

Strong knowledge of financial concepts, practices and procedures (e.g. IRR, NPV, DCF, payback, etc.).

Demonstrated analytical ability and high degree of intellectual curiosity with track record of delivered results.

Advanced MS Excel skills required, including logical and reference formulas, financial functions, use of pivot tables, best practice in financial model structure/design, assumption toggling, charting/graphing and formatting for executive presentations.

Experience with Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Reporting/Essbase is a strong plus.

Ability to operate and work across functional groups in a matrixed organization.

Proven ability to prepare and deliver executive level presentations and insights.

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to balance multiple, changing priorities and ability to work under tight deadlines. Experienced in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating one’s own work.

Advanced MS PowerPoint skills preferred, with an emphasis on effective, professional presentation design/formatting.
