Role Summary

As a subject matter/industry expert, independently develops value-added, material, and valid insights and tools to grow customer base, revenue, and cash flow, enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.   Ensures quality, breadth, depth, and timeliness of work. Measures and assesses the effectiveness of investments and processes using data analysis, mathematical/statistical modeling, and optimization techniques.  Assesses and optimizes performance to recommend opportunities and influence business change and strive for operationalization.

 

Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and judgment in anticipating and solving complex analytical problems in order to meet the business objectives and requirements.  Makes decisions and recommendations based on expertise on analytical methods and approaches.  Develops and maintains relationships with other analytical thought leaders within Cox as well as the business and academic community.  

 

 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Takes business results, customer analytics and research, industry trends, and other sets of data and identifies opportunities to positively impact the Cox Mobile business.

Works with the frontline Sales and Care teams to understand customer pain points and develops ideas for how Marketing can resolve them.

Leads the development of effective presentations that clearly communicate the problem to be solved and the recommendation for how to address it. 

Communicates complex information in a simple, clear, and concise way.

Provides deep dives of how key products and offers are performing and provides recommendations on how to improve the performance.

Understands cross functional implementation challenges and issues.

Understands the key drivers of the Cox Mobile business case.

Partners and builds relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.

Provides oversight and mentoring to employees’ professional development but does not directly manage a team of analysts. Demonstrates Cox Core Competencies, particularly in championing innovative approaches and business change. Demonstrates leadership in the matrix environment.  Advances the field of analytics within Cox by developing new methods and championing change. 

Partners and builds relationships with internal stakeholders and clients. Identifies and builds new avenues of opportunity for leveraging existing and new and innovative analytical solutions in areas of importance to the business.  Leads the identification and scoping of analytical projects that align with priority business opportunities, challenges, and needs. Aligns projects to business and departmental goals. Demonstrates understanding of key client needs and the ability to gain acceptance.  Understands business and technology constraints.

Leads the development of project milestones, in alignment with stakeholder needs, and departmental processes and operational policies. As a subject-matter expert, helps associates on development of project milestones.

Develops and delivers clear communications through appropriate mediums to key stakeholders and clients.

Clearly defines scope of projects. Minimizes scope changes through upfront buy-in from analytical team, analytical team lead, and stakeholders and clients. Monitors and manages client expectations.

Leads and coordinates data collection, cleansing, and validation.  Broadens strategic vision for data

Leads development of complex statistical models and quantitative analyses. Demonstrates technical expertise in analytical or statistical methodologies and problem solving. Guides coworkers on processes for selecting methods and techniques.  Serves as a mentor and consultant for other functional teams. 

Identifies and translates analytical results into meaningful and insightful/actionable recommendations to influence business change.  Leads the development of effective presentations and documents that clearly communicate results that align with business issues and challenges.  Communicates complex information in a simple, clear, and concise way. Understands cross functional implementation issues and challenges.

Drives project milestones to completion.  Builds partnerships, defines accountability, and leads the activities which operationalize key findings.  Helps develop/architect tools, tests, and dashboards to enable implementation and automation of complex models, analyses, and subsequent insights. Supports testing, training, and development of new business practices. 

Supports training of statistical and other quantitative techniques, towards the end goal of delivering business impact.

Qualifications:

Minimum

 10 or more years of experience required developing and implementing analytical solutions in Finance, Marketing, Sales or Operations.

Requires expert knowledge and experience with analytical tools such as SAS, R, SPSS, Tableau, etc. as well as SQL and data manipulation. Excel and ppt.

Requires expert knowledge and experience in teamwork, communication, presentation, and time management skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization

Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred

BS/BA in quantitative field strongly desired (Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Analytics, etc). Advanced degree (MS/MA, PhD) in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics or equivalent discipline highly desired. 

Implementing cross-functional analytical projects and solutions, including defining scope, timelines and milestones.

5+ years using SAS for modeling and analysis

Experience within telecom, consumer package goods, retail, financial services, or consulting

Econometric modeling and statistical, machine learning methodology and regression techniques

Marketing and/or Sales analytics including revenue/discounting analysis, customer survival and churn analysis, and business case/profitability analysis support

Operational analytics including application for Call Center, Technical Support, Collections and Customer Experience Analytics

Recognized contributor in professional field through original contributions to industry-recognized channels (i.e. publications, journals, speaking events, patents, receipt of awards).

Certification in CAP (Certified Analytics Professional) and/or SAS Foundation Certifications (Certified Base Programmer or Advanced Programmer) preferred
