The Manheim Business Insights department has responsibility for the development of industry and client specific insights. This team works in close partnership with both internal and external clients to provide insightful analysis which informs decision making.
The Business Insights team works with our data-science, analytics, and sales teams/partners to provide insights to our clients and to arm the sales team to ‘win’ business. Additionally, our team works across different business units within the Cox Automotive environment including vAuto, Kelley Blue Book, and DealerTrack.
As a member of the Business Insights team, you will conduct deep analyses of complex data sets to pull out the salient points. You will be responsible for condensing deep analysis into digestible storylines with data backed conclusions. Critical thinking, curiosity, a willingness to challenge the status quo and strong analytic skills will help you thrive in this role. A strong desire to turn data into knowledge is essential for success.
Experience in the automotive industry is helpful but not required. Curiosity and a capacity to learn are more important than direct industry experience.
This is predominately a remote function, so you will need to be comfortable with remote work and have a home office environment that is conducive to working from home. You will interface with co-workers and colleagues primarily using video calls, with occasional travel to clients, team meetings and the corporate office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (What you do day to day)
Apply strategic thinking to sort through complex data sets to find patterns & storylines, learning the used-car market industry through your work.
Learn, develop, and leverage industry knowledge to convert Data into Knowledge.
Work in a matrixed, team environment where collaboration across peers and managers is a key to success (information and knowledge sharing).
Ensure accuracy in output, know when the data doesn’t look right and escalate issues as necessary.
Compile and sort through data from multiple sources. “Clean†and organize/manipulate the data to ensure analysis conducted contains accurate comparisons.
Possess and embody a mindset of service – to your clients, colleagues, and managers.
Function in every aspect as an “analyst†versus a “reporterâ€.
Develop clear and digestible dashboards to educate decision-makers at all levels of the business.
Enhance internal reporting capabilities and empower business users to become more data proficient and self-directed.
Show willingness to question beyond defined boundaries and challenge conventional thinking.
Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS (What we are seeking)
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Math, Engineering or other analytically oriented discipline or equivalent experience in a quantitative role
Highly self-motivated individual, initiating new projects on your own when he/she identifies a need
Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize work based on departmental priorities
Comfort working with large-scale datasets needed so experience with them (1 to 2 years) or a strong aptitude for working with them
Curiosity and passion for turning data into information and a willingness to go above and beyond the stated request
Eager to work collaboratively with all members of the department and boundary partners
Some experience with software such as Excel, Tableau, or Snowflake (and a desire to become an expert)
Knowledge of SQL (or similar software) or the ability to learn it
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
