This position, located in Atlanta, Georgia, will be responsible for providing the day to day direction to the centralized Cox Automotive Asset Management team. Responsibilities will include the entire asset management lifecycle, month-end close tasks including journal entry and balance sheet reconciliation approval, weekly and monthly labor analysis, and special projects. In this role, the individual will ensure team members have appropriate training, support and resources to perform their job functions. This position will be expected to gain a detailed understanding of the Project Accounting and Fixed Asset subledgers, maintain a strong relationship with our corporate customers and outsourced partners (EXL), and develop an understanding of the business initiatives for project accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong managerial, analytical and communication skills with a track record of leading a high performing team and implementing best practices and process improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
• Oversee the Finance Shared Service activities related the Project Accounting and Fixed Asset modules in Oracle. This covers the entire project lifecycle including project approval, subledger reconciliation, project closure and placing assets into service. This individual will also be responsible for supervising the team of senior accountants responsible for the month-end subledger module closure process, including providing guidance and problem solving solutions as issues arise.
• Manage a team of 2 employees, including utilization of performance management to ensure results and to develop team members for future growth.
• Partner with our outsourced team to provide assistance with Project Accounting and Fixed Asset activity including controls to ensure accuracy of the financials.
• Review and manage the Capex vs Opex project decisions made by the senior accountants for Internally Developed Software Projects to ensure accuracy and consistent application of GAAP.
• Assume responsibility for review and understanding of all labor related transactions – including both the employee labor reconciliation process and external labor reconciliation process for professional services and staff augmentation between the 3rd party time entry system, Service Station, and the Oracle Project Accounting Module. The ideal candidate would also demonstrate understanding of items unique to the Oracle Project Accounting module such as burden rate analysis.
• Oversee the preparation and reporting for monthly capital spend and maintaining the Fixed Asset Rollforward.
• Oversee and manage the monthly recording of journal entries to Balance Sheet CIP accounts. This role serves as the key control point for all manual journal entries.
• Provide balance sheet approvals in Blackline ensuring balances are accurately reconciled with potential opportunities and risks clearly identified.
• Serve as the subject matter expert regarding complex accounting topics; including but not limited to Internally Developed Software Capital vs Operating decisions, Capital Leases, Fixed Asset Policy decisions, etc.
• This position will also work with internal and external auditors as required and needed based on their requests for information.
• Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to all aspects of the Asset Management group. Responsible for tracking and meeting those goals and ensuring adherence to those policies and procedures.
• Perform special projects as required by Director of Asset Management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting required; Advanced Degree and CPA preferred.
10+ years accounting experience required.
5+ years of managerial experience.
Proven track record in successfully leading high performing teams with tight deadlines and improving efficiencies.
Month end close knowledge and general accounting principles.
Maturity and organizational savvy to work with corporate management.
Proven ability to deliver high levels of customer service.
Excellent oral and written communication is mandatory.
Ability to lead and develop teams.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, and shift priorities quickly as required.
Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems.
Ability to understand business strategy and translate into effective tactical plans.
Strong computer skills and proficient use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Strong knowledge of Oracle Financials and Essbase, Oracle Project Accounting and Fixed Assets modules strongly preferred.
Proven ability to work with all levels in the organization
