Senior level PC Board Design Engineer/Librarian

 

The Role:

AMD Data Center and Embedded team is looking for an MTS PCB Designer for products in Server and compute environments. In this role, you will deliver High-Speed PCB Design projects that advance AMD’s products beyond the state of the art. You will be responsible for driving the development of ASIC and component schematic and PCB footprints, and specialized routing strategies for advanced IP along with the development of high-speed designs for high volume manufacturing.

AMD Data Center and Embedded division’s PCB research and technology direction is essential to our company’s future. A successful candidate will have the drive to create next-generation schematic symbols, PCB Footprints, and PCB Designs that help craft the future of PCB Design at AMD; a strong background in High-Speed PCB Design and understanding of PCB manufacturing is critical for this role.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Advanced librarian work
  • High pin count schematic symbol and PCB footprint development
• High-Speed PCB Design development
• Develop routing strategies for new IP including, PCIe, DP, Memory, XGMI
• Stackup creation and high-speed material selection
• Creating CAM Out files for manufacturing
  • utilizing tools like Valor and other DFM tools
• Strategizing with a variety of teams including, SI, EMI, PI, Thermal, and Mechanical
• Development of Design rules
• Aiding in the development of New Tools and Processes

 

Preferred experience:

• Proven track record of successful PCB Layout Design
• Strong background in schematic symbol and PCB footprint creation
• Strong Manual routing experience
• Experiance with CAM out process
• Valor and Valor ERF development
• CAM350
• Strong skills in Cadence Allegro 17.2 design suite
• In-depth knowledge of Allegro Constraint Manager
• High-Speed signals in high-density designs
• Impedance control
• Stackup creation
• High-Speed material selection
• Experience with utilities written in Skill
• Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes
• Good interpersonal skills

 

Secondary experience:

• Skill Language scripting
• Pearl, C, C++ or similar for script development

 

Academic credentials:

• B. Sc. in Electrical/Computer Engineering
• MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred
