Role Summary
The Sr Instructor conducts flight training in the flight training device (FTD), full flight simulator and classroom ground training to develop and reinforce flight procedures in normal, abnormal, and emergency flight operations. This instructor develops lesson plans and conducts ground training modules covering aircraft systems, including normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Key Duties
Conduct training in a flight training device (FTD) and/or Full Flight Simulator to develop and reinforce flight crew procedures in normal, abnormal and emergency operations.
Applies knowledge of aviation and effective training methods to train flight crew members in classroom setting.
Develop lesson plans and conduct ground training modules covering aircraft systems, including normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Makes recommendations to the development and evolution of training programs, visual aids and other training materials for classroom presentation and individual review.
Ensure training environment is prepared in advance, presentation media is operating correctly and required reference materials and distributed materials are available.
Help ensure technical accuracy of information used by pilots in training, including computer-based training modules, aircraft manuals and other distributed materials.
Apprise appropriate managers and Training Scheduling of student progress and make recommendations to address sub-standard progress as necessary.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
5 years of working experience in the aviation industry.
2 years’ experience in a training or instructional position for a part 121 air carrier.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in aviation or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Ability to complete the Horizon Air Captain Qualification Curriculum and obtain DHC8 type rating.
Knowledge of Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts.
Ability to facilitate a cooperative relationship within the department.
Able to lead classroom discussions and present both technical and non-technical information with high energy, passionate enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 21.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Possess an ATP certificate. Dash 8 Type Rating and Q400 experience or ERJ170/190 Type Rating and experience.
Experience with fixed-wing and multi-engine aircraft.
Knowledge of DHC 8-400 aircraft systems or ERJ 170 aircraft systems.
