Job Description

The Senior Health Integration Engineer is an exciting cross-functional role within our organization. This person will develop and build interfaces for Health Systems, Payers, Employers and other MDLIVE Clients. This person will be key in brining forward-thinking methodology that will keep MDLIVE on the forefront of new integration methods and best practices.

Responsibilities:  

As the Senior Health Integration Engineer you will collaborate internally and externally to establish operational standards and best integration practices. In addition, you will:

  • Develop and build interfaces

  • Develop standards of operation documentation as necessary

  • Participate in support and troubleshooting of interfaces

  • Develop internal and external API interfaces using NextGen Mirth application

  • Expand enterprise master patient index (EMPI) database functionality

  • Contribute to the development of a version control strategy for all NextGen Mirth channels

  • Contribute to the implementation of a disaster recovery of our Mirth instances.

  • Work with Project Managers and Clients to contribute on project timelines and meet EDI associated deadlines

  • Identify potential areas for improvement to promote efficiency and automation

  • Development monitoring and reporting features to make sure interfaces are working as expected

  • Responsible for the development, test and deployment of interfaces

  • Responsible for maintenance, backup, restore and recovery of interfaces and system servers

  • Provide internal and external integration support

  • Introduce reporting and auditing features to existing interfaces

  • Introduce tracking and documenting features for existing and new interfaces

  • Participate in training initiatives for other developers and users

  • Responsible for rapid resolution of performance issues

  • Participate in client and internal calls regarding integration as needed

  • Develop strategy on implementing applications on various EMR marketplaces such App Orchard and Cerner Code

  • Participate on any conversations associated to application development for EMR marketplaces

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required 

  • Minimum of 10 years job-related experience in the healthcare industry with specific emphasis on new client implementations and/or account management is required

  • Must have a working knowledge of NextGen Mirth, SQL, API, FHIR, XML and HL7

  • Expertise working with an interface engine and understanding of the concepts for filtering and mapping HL7 messages

  • Solid knowledge of interface technology and coding standards such as HL7, XML, LOINC, SNOMED, CCD-A, X12 and FHIR

  • An understanding of Web Services, JSON and API’s to transmit data objects

  • Demonstrable skill with SQL and the ability to run simple to complex queries

  • Demonstrable skill with JavaScript

  • Background in healthcare information technology or equivalent technical work experience in an area

  • Experience managing healthcare interoperability projects, processes, and associated technologies

  • Client-facing experience gathering requirements, analyzing needs, and creating a plan to address their needs

  • Excellent communication skills to support need to convey interface issues and potential solutions

  • Documentation skills, including creating as-built documentation for interface configuration

  • Experience working within a development team to properly create, test and deploy interfaces

  • Demonstrable experience working independently with ability to organize own work

  • Ability to identify technologies and acquire working knowledge of them to leverage them to create solutions

  • Familiarity with Agile Methodologies

  • Strong understanding of data exchange principles

  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong presentation skills, management skills and communication skills

  • Receives general assignments with few instructions and operates without the need of direct supervision

This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location.  Employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 if they choose to come onsite.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $110,300 - $183,800, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
